But to me, Bretton Wood will always be home.
I was born into this neighborhood 43 years ago, and my parents still live here today. Some of my earliest memories are riding bikes down these quiet tree-lined streets, walking to friends’ houses, playing at the parks, and growing up surrounded by neighbors who truly cared about one another.
And honestly? That sense of community still exists here today — which is incredibly rare.
A Neighborhood That Feels Like a Hidden Gem
Bretton Wood is made up of approximately 180 homes tucked into one of the most convenient and naturally beautiful pockets of Bellevue.
Many homes feature:

It’s one of those neighborhoods that somehow feels peaceful and tucked away while also being unbelievably central to everything.

One of the funny things we always joke about is that Bretton Wood might be the most Costco-convenient neighborhood in America.
You’re within about 15 minutes of THREE different Costco Wholesale locations:
- Redmond
- Issaquah
- Kirkland
Honestly, that’s the true sign of a prime location.
But beyond Costco, the convenience here really is hard to beat.
Within minutes, you have:
- Microsoft Campus
- Crossroads Bellevue
- Parks and playgrounds
- Libraries
- Dog parks
- Hospitals and medical care
- Grocery stores and restaurants
- Beaches and lake access
- Walking trails and recreation
And in the summer, one of our favorite spots is Idylwood Park — the perfect place to cool off at the beach on a warm day.
A Community That Actually Feels Like Community
What makes Bretton Wood truly special isn’t just the homes or the location. It’s the people.
This is a neighborhood where neighbors know each other. Where people wave while walking their dogs. Where families stay for decades. Where kids still ride bikes around the neighborhood and people genuinely look out for one another.
My family has been deeply connected to this community for generations.
For over 45 years, my parents and I have delivered pumpkins throughout the neighborhood every Halloween. Over the years we’ve also handed out flowers, flags, pinwheels, treats, and little seasonal surprises just because we love this neighborhood and the people in it.
That community connection is something we never take for granted.
A Legacy of Real Estate in Bretton Wood
My dad, Warrick Minnie, has sold over 100 homes in Bretton Wood throughout his career.
That number still kind of blows my mind.
He knows this neighborhood better than almost anyone, and I’ve loved continuing that legacy alongside him as part of Team Minnie at RE/MAX Eastside Brokers.
There’s something incredibly meaningful about helping families buy and sell homes in the same neighborhood where I grew up.
We know the streets.
We know the floorplans.
We know the history.
We know the hidden gems.
And we know what makes this community so special.
Why People Rarely Leave Bretton Wood
One thing we always tell buyers is this:
Homes in Bretton Wood don’t come up often because people genuinely love living here. Once people move in, they tend to stay.
